Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024 announced the ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana’, a government scheme under which one crore households will get rooftop solar power systems.
The PM said the scheme would not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class but would also make India self-reliant in the energy sector.
The government will provide 300 units of free electricity per month to 1 crore households, aiming to light up their homes. The government guarantees no financial burden on the beneficiaries. This will likely involve subsidies deposited directly into bank accounts and offering affordable loans to help cover any costs associated with the program.
The primary goal of the PM surya ghar yojana 2024 is to lower electricity bills and promote green energy. This initiative supports the use of renewable energy, thereby benefiting the environment and reducing dependency on traditional power sources.
